The WestyRISE initiative is helping the Westminster community recover from the COVID-19 crisis by providing resources and programs specifically targeted toward Westminster economic resilience, including business grants, reopening guides, and a list of open restaurants.
This page is dedicated to sharing the results and outcomes of the WestyRISE initiative, and how it is benefiting the Westminster business community.
The WestyRISE Business Grant was created to satisfy fixed costs stemming from monthly rental and mortgage payments. Funds would come as a one-time grant that would equal the lesser of (i) 50 percent of each of two months’ rent or mortgage payments, or (ii) $7500. The response to the WestyRISE Business Grant program was overwhelming with over 400 applications submitted.
The chart on the left illustrates the grant recipients by business category and value awarded.
In just under three weeks, 22 volunteers from various departments in the City (including Economic Development, Parks Recreation & Libraries, and Sustainability) called over 3,000 Westminster businesses.
The goal was to reach out to our business community and inquire about immediate needs they might have, as well as update contact information to help them stay current with the latest COVID-19 updates.
The Care Calls team made calls while quarantined at home, and made sure to pass on any questions or concerns the businesses had, to the appropriate staff member.
