Westminster’s Economic Development department is partnering with Solderworks, a co-working space designed for makers, professionals, and entrepreneurs, to provide an Innovation Scholarship. The Economic Development department will award a total of $35,000 in scholarship funds to eight entrepreneurs. Each scholarship will provide the selected entrepreneurs membership access to Solderworks.

The scholarships will help the entrepreneurs sharpen their innovative concepts with access to free mentoring, maker space, equipment, and tools that support technology. The intent is to create an ecosystem where innovation can grow and flourish in Westminster.

Solderworks, located at 6060 W. 91st. Avenue in Westminster, can accommodate up to 90 entrepreneurs total. Their recently updated facility has the latest technology, equipment, and industry experts to help nurture technology start-ups. The company chose this strategic location near the new Downtown Westminster and along the US 36 corridor in order to attract the technology workforce.

The City and Solderworks will work in concert to vet and award the entrepreneur memberships. A Board of Advisors will be formed and will meet monthly, as well as provide post mentoring to the entrepreneurs after the program is completed.
